Renters on a Dying Planet

We’re just parasites living on a paradise.

When I think about the future, all I see is destruction.

I don’t want to see the walls falling down around us as the foundation errodes. My brain explodes, sent back into chaos once again. Unable to handle the captial-T traumas eventually trickling down until it’s a full hail.

Where is the future in greed? Where starvation exists beside excess. Where one billionaire can be buying their 5th yacht on the same waters others pan for thirst. Finding nothing but salty futures in their plates, while the rich argue about which caviar to serve.

It’s not the life we all deserve. A literal paradise given to us on this world, everything we could ever want or need. But greed, is those few rotten apples spoiling the bunch. It is also our biggest motivator.

Strange, that. An imaginary concept polluting our bodies. Polluting our Earth. Well, it was never really “ours” to begin with, we’re just renters. Something we forgot as we parade like owners seeking to buy our next property in the sky. Colonizing the galaxy before ever figuring out that home, is where you live, not just what space you can occupy. And that home is where the heart is, not just the space you can conquer.

But we’ll never stop the greedy in this way. Their hearts tainted by love of something they feel is missing from their life. But money is not love, and love is not destruction.

But when bombed Russian bot farms can take out half the hate in an afternoon, maybe the problem is not the majority. It’s the small minority. The smallest of minorities. And it’s time, the oligarchy, was toppled.
